Charitables.
At the beginning of last week, Norah “donated” a dinner reservation for two at the W&L to the Lega1 A!d Society’s Annual Benefit Auction. I’m not oblivious to the peculiarity of the gesture; strange to think one can donate a dinner reservation to one’s own apartment. The proceeds will benefit foster children and those less fortunate, who cannot pay for legal representation.
At the end of the week, I donated a dinner for two to The R!verside Symph0ny’s Annual Benefit Auction. The donation will help ensure the symphony continues to put on challenging works by master composers, for the benefit of the city’s classical music enthusiasts, in addition to offering programs for thousands of New York City music students.
The Lega1 A!d dinner for two went for $250. The R!verside Symph0ny dinner for two went for $400. It seems last week my roommates and I made charitable donations amounting to $650. I’m surprised. $200/person will get you any meal in the city. I’m also a little intimidated by these people’s expectations.
Not really sure if any of this was legal, but I suppose a fake reservation at a fake restaurant resulted in a real cash donation, and for that I’m glad to support these fine institutions.
