I bought my copy of Invisible Cities at the Rizzoli Bookstore in New York a couple days before moving to Turkey.
That we encounter only the detritus of our discarded and forgotten selves when traveling is somehow both a comfort and a vague irritation. It’s as if the promise of happiness were predicated on a ghost whose existence you acknowledge, but know you’ll never know.
